In honour of the upcoming long weekend, we want to wish the Eventsage community a relaxing, fun and memorable BC Day holiday. BC day is a time to spend with your family and closest friends, and of course, appreciate how amazing our province is. Whether you’ve lived in BC your whole life or are just stopping by for a visit, we can all agree that BC is a place like no other!

Here are the 6 things we love most about our fair province:

1) The people!

Did you know that Victoria and Vancouver are some of the friendliest cities in North America? The people in BC are beautiful inside and out. Over the years, we’ve witnessed random acts of kindness, countless friendly baristas, and even a heroic neighbour or two. There is no doubt that people from BC are all about spreading smiles and helping others in times of need.

2) Diversity is celebrated.

British Columbia’s cultural diversity is a beautiful thing. We are lucky to have the opportunity to meet folks from all over the world. France, Australia, Thailand, Brazil, Japan…the world is on our doorstep. BCers embrace local culture as much as international traditions, with street festivals and community events taking place every weekend throughout the summer months. No matter where you’re from, you can call BC home.

 3) Food for all tastes.

Whatever cuisine you’re craving, you can easily find a restaurant specializing in that fair, particularly in the larger cities throughout the province. Have a craving for fresh sushi? Try Miku Restaurant in Vancouver. Want to get a seafood fix? You should check out The Beach House Restaurant in Victoria. There are so many food and beverage options, it’s like an international buffet in this province.

Oh and did you know that BC invented Nanaimo bars. Gotta love that. Yum!

4) Outdoor activities are endless.

BC is a playground for outdoor junkies, filled with trails for campers and hikers, lakes for paddle boarders, and even vineyards in the Okanagan for wine connoisseurs. Let’s not forget Whistler is the perfect getaway spot for snow lovers as well as those who prefer the comforts of an aprés ski experience. There’s an adventure here for everyone!

5) Sizzling summers and cozy winters.

Sometimes we like to complain about the rain and that it’s too hot or too cold, but we sure are lucky to have BC’s mild climate. During summers, it’s hot enough to whip out sunglasses and wear a favourite pair of shorts. Spending the day toasting on the beach or kicking it on a patio with a cold beer never gets old. When temperatures drop and rain and snow fall, we love putting on a sweater and relaxing at home with a cup of hot tea.

6) Stunning views no matter where you go!

The amazing vistas throughout British Columbia are undeniable! Whether you’re catching a sunset at the beach, exploring a hiking trail, or biking by the shore to get a view of the city skyline, it’s impossible not to surround yourself with BC’s super-natural beauty. Wherever you decide to go and whatever you decide to do, the natural beauty of BC follows you everywhere!
