One of the best things about working at Eventsage is that every day we get to introduce people to our community. Whether it’s a new user coordinating a party in Whistler or a new supplier partner offering a great service for events, we never grow tired of expanding the circle and providing a network of support when it’s needed most. While this positivity flows through us every day, it’s not everyday that we get to stop, relax and celebrate the hard working team who makes it all happen. Last week, thanks to one of our newest supplier partners, Simply Relax, we were able to do just that!

I first heard about Simply Relax during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games when they were hired to provide on-site massage services for the P&G Family Home, a welcome centre for US athletes and their families. Many years later, the owner Nia Bellamy saw an article about Eventsage in Vancity Buzz and reached out to inquire about joining our community. This is what I call a full-circle life moment. After welcoming Simply Relax with open arms, Nia generously offered to come to our little Gastown office to demo her services for our team and we gratefully accepted.

It’s been a while since any of us have gotten a massage (and one of our team members had never even had a chair massage before – poor guy!) so we counted down the days until the demo. When the day finally arrived, our team welcomed Nia to our office and eagerly waited while she set-up. It took her less than 10 minutes to set-up but they may have been the longest 10 minutes of our lives.  We wanted the full experience, so to set the mood we played Enya songs on our desktop speakers and started talking to each other in whispers.

Each of us was able to enjoy a full 15 minute reprieve from our daily work lives while Nia massaged our neck, shoulders, back, and arms with just the right amount of pressure. She honestly had the softest hands I had ever felt before. As full relaxation mode kicked in, we did our best not to doze off with our heads buried in the face pillow. At the end of our massage, Nia gently brought us back to reality and we wobbled back to our work desks in a happy daze with the voice of James Brown in our head. “I feeeeel good!” None of us were disappointed.

As event people, we’re all about the details and Nia’s attention to them was nothing short of perfect. She arrived on time, in uniform and with a smile on her face. Her chair was meticulously clean, sturdy, and safe. She washed her hands and used hand sanitizer regularly. She changed the soft flannel pillow cover before/after each massage and when I needed to pull my hair off my back, she had a clean clip for me to use.

Her therapeutic massage definitely made us feel amazing, energized (after the initial relaxation daze wore off) and gave us a boost for the rest of the week. After this demo, the whole Eventsage team can confidently recommend Simply Relax for your next event. Thank you Nia, you are amazing! What a treat!!
